If there is one thing that Shri Ganesh has done well in his film 3BHK, it is that he portrays the tough life of a middle-class family through the eyes of a person who feels real and close to what we see around us. The film remains honest and relatable because it shows what many people face in real life.
The film works because of its clear writing and strong acting by the lead character, which makes it a film that you want to sit and watch. The heart of the story is simple – how buying a dream house can lead to many problems and pains that take a lot from a family.
3BHK adds a soft touch, and the writing slowly builds by clearly showing the emotions. As the film progresses, you can feel the family’s struggles. For example, Sarath Kumar’s job gets in trouble when a computer comes to his desk, and we see him trying to handle it. Then his family comes to help him learn and use it. Not only here, the family is always close and helps each other. They talk clearly, and we can see their bond. Even small problems are shared, and they find ways to solve them together. This happens because they all want the same thing to buy a house.

Story
The story begins in 2006 when Prabhu (Siddharth) is studying in 12th standard and his younger sister Aarti (Meetha Raghunath) is studying in 9th standard. Their father Vasudevan (Sarath Kumar), who works in a low-income factory, dreams of buying a small house. His wife Shanti (Devayani) is with him, and the family lives in a rented house.
Even though Vasudevan tries his best, sudden expenses like Prabhu’s studies, Aarti’s marriage and health needs break their savings every time.
Prabhu is not good at studies like his bright sister. The story runs from 2006 to 2027, showing how the family tries to get a house of their own.
Will they get a house, or will their lives end with just one thought? This is the main part of the film.
3BHK Trailer
The trailer of 3BHK hit the social media a while back. It depicts the life of a middle-class family comprising of a husband, wife and their two children. The story moves through different times as they grow up and try hard to fulfill their dream of buying a house. Siddharth’s life is divided into three parts – when he is in school, then a young boy and then a working man. He works with his father to make his dream come true.
Plus Points
The film touches on a subject that many families are familiar with. The desire to buy a house and the emotions associated with it are something that many middle class people experience. The film maintains this idea from the beginning to the end.
Sarathkumar plays the role of a good and calm father. His soft and steady acting conveys the emotions nicely. Siddharth also acts with full effort. His new look and work for the role stand out. Some of the conversations between the father and son feel strong.
Rana Daggubati lends his voice at the beginning, which adds a little. The film conveys the emotions clearly and tries to stay close to real life.
Minus Points
The big problem is the writing. The story seems simple and realistic, but the way it is told quickly becomes boring. The pace is slow, and the scenes seem the same. The film shows the same emotion over and over again without adding anything new.
The second part is even worse. The scenes go on for too long and don’t bring anything new. The film starts to feel long and slow. Nothing is refreshing, and it loses interest. It feels close to other films, mostly Bommarillu. The fact that Siddharth is in it strengthens that feeling. Some scenes feel like they have copied the same style.
Yogi Babu doesn’t get much to do. His part is small and easy to forget. He could have added some fun, but the writing doesn’t help him. There are no jokes in the film and there is no change in emotions, which is a weak point. Some scenes feel like we have seen them before, and it takes away from the impact of the film.
Artistes’ Performances
Siddharth Prabhu does a good job from a young boy to an old man. His face and acting are clearly visible in every part of the story.
Chaitra is okay as the girl who likes Achar in college. She does a good job in a scene in a cloth shop where she sees her old love again.
Sharath Kumar does well as he progresses from middle age to old age.
Devyani gives a soft and quiet performance which goes well with the other parts.
Meeta Raghunath is good, especially in the first part. Yogi Babu comes in for a short while but doesn’t do much.
