Plot

Azaad is a 2025 Hindi film based on history. It was directed by Abhishek Kapoor, and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor. The film was released in theaters on 17 January 2025. Later, Netflix began showing it from 14 March 2025.

The film starts with Govind living under the hard rule of Rai Bahadur and his family. In the first scene, they punish him badly because he rides Rai Bahadur’s horse. Only rich people are allowed to do that. This shows how unfair the system is in that area.

Govind’s life changes when he by mistake throws Holi colors on Janaki, who is Rai Bahadur’s daughter. He thinks they will punish him again, so he runs away. But then the Baagi group finds him. Vikram Singh leads this group of rebels.

At the same time, Vikram’s story goes on. He is a rebel who fights against Rai Bahadur’s wrong ways. His old girlfriend Kesar is forced to marry Rai Bahadur’s son Tej. Even after this, Kesar still talks to Vikram in secret. They meet even after many years.

Later, someone from Vikram’s group cheats him. In an attack, Vikram gets hurt very badly. Before dying, he tells Govind to take care of Azaad, a strong and smart horse.

Govind has a hard time becoming friends with Azaad. But Janaki helps him. She talks to him kindly and treats him well. Slowly, Azaad starts trusting Govind. Janaki and Govind also start to like each other. Their love grows even though they belong to different classes.

James, who is the son of a British officer, wants to buy Azaad. But Govind says no. He cares more about the horse than money. After that, they beat Govind again. Rai Bahadur becomes more cruel. James tries to take Azaad to England by force to train him.

Azaad movie hit or flop review

“Azaad” did not do well at the box office and was considered a flop as it received mixed reviews. Some people liked the acting and camera shots, but most people did not feel connected to the film, and it failed to make a big profit.

Box office performance:

The film had a slow start and could not even earn 10 crores in India.

It faced stiff competition due to the release of other films and the situation worsened.

Many people found its time in theaters boring and unimpressive.

Critical reception:

People gave mixed reviews. Some liked how the film looked and said that Aman Devgn did a good job. But others did not like the story, they said that the characters were weak, and they did not experience any real emotions.

Some people said that although the film looked big, the story felt empty.

Many people pointed out that the film lacked a clear direction and a weak script.

Overall:

Despite some promise in the film, “Azaad” failed to connect with the masses and was a flop. It shows how difficult it is for new actors to break into films and how important a strong story and good acting are.

Azaad Movie Box Office Collection Against Budget

Many online reports say that Azad was made with a budget of over Rs 80 crore. This is a huge amount for a film featuring two new faces. But so far, the film has earned only 6.5% of that cost. Given the current pace, it seems difficult for the film to even cross the Rs 10 crore mark. Therefore, reaching break-even seems almost impossible.

Ultimately, Rasha Thadani and Aman Devgan’s debut film seems to be a flop at the Indian box office.

Note: These box office figures are based on different sources and estimates. Koimoi has not confirmed the same.
