How to Train Your Dragon Box Office Worldwide: Close to 50% Return in 7 Days

How to Train Your Dragon (2025) is an American fantasy adventure and live-action adaptation of the beloved 2010 animated classic, which was inspired by the 2003 children’s book by Cressida Cowell. Backed by DreamWorks Animation, the remake is both written and directed by Dean DeBlois, who also co-produced the original animated trilogy.

The film features a talented cast including Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gabriel Howell, Julian Dennison, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Peter Serafinowicz and Nick Frost. Notably, Gerard Butler returns to play Stoick the Vest, a character he voiced in the original animated series.

DreamWorks announced its plans for a live-action version in February 2023, with DeBlois returning to the creative lead role. Renowned composer John Powell, best known for scoring the original trilogy, also returned to handle the music for the new adaptation.

The main cast was confirmed in May 2023, with further announcements made in January 2024. Production on the film began in Belfast, Northern Ireland in January 2024 and was completed by May. The film also marks a milestone as the first live-action feature produced by DreamWorks Animation.
