What’s The Budget & Box Office Collection of Metro In Dino: Cast, Review, OTT, And More
A spiritual sequel to the 2007 film ‘Life in a Metro’, ‘Metro in Dino’ was released in theatres on July 4. Directed by Anurag Basu, the film had a slow opening on the first day but performed well over the weekend. However, the love drama is finding it difficult to sustain itself and its earnings have seen a dip on Monday.
‘Metro in Dino’ features a strong cast including Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Ali Fazal and Shashwata Chatterjee. The story depicts today’s love life in big cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
‘Metro in Dino’, presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with Anurag Basu Productions, also features the return of music producer Pritam and director Anurag Basu. He has given many hit songs in films like Gangster: A Love Story, Barfi!, Life in a Metro, Jagga Jasoos and Ludo.
Metro in Dino is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishna Kumar, Anurag Basu and Tani Basu.

Women Lead The Story in Metro…in Dino
What Anurag Basu didn’t show in Life in a…Metro comes out in full swing in this next part. Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sara Ali Khan and even the little girl who plays Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi’s daughter…
All of them lead their own stories in the larger plot of the film. Though some of these women start off without strong ‘main character energy’, they soon take full responsibility for their lives and choices.
Unlike Life in a…Metro, women in Metro…in Dino are fed up with men and their cold hearts, deceitful ways, mind games, selfish antics and fear of choosing. These women speak up, stand firm and decide for themselves. They can give love (or marriage) another chance, but only if the men prove they are worth it. They don’t adjust. They have the power – the power that men have always had in movies and in real life.
Well, well, well. How things have changed.
These women are real. They say things that hurt after years of keeping quiet, and they make bold, even wrong moves – but when they cross the line they own it.
None of them are Sita, who crosses the line and is taken by Ravana. They save themselves – they don’t need Rama, and they don’t wait for help.

Metro…in Dino’s Couples (Throuples)
If you look closely, Metro…in Dino shows more than just the four couples shown in the trailer, and more than one kind of love.
Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher and Shashwat Chatterjee have given wonderful performances as elderly people who try to find a new meaning of love in their last years. I really hope Neena Gupta wins an Oscar someday (if you know, you know).
Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi, who never disappoint, play the middle-aged couple Kajol and Monty. They plan sex like they plan a trip to the dentist. They feel like a crazier and older version of Shruti and Monty from Life in a…Metro. (P.S. Irrfan Khan would be happy to see Pankaj Tripathi).
Life in a Metro Memories
If you have seen the first Metro, you will “chill out” seeing the obvious links to the 2007 film. If not, you will still understand them or find them funny. The songs in Life in a Metro, composed by Pritam and sung by a “live” band in the film, felt like complete characters. Even after 18 years, people remember songs like Alvida, O Meri Jaan and Baatein Kuch Ankahi Si. The new music, composed by a different band with Pritam and Papon, is a nice upgrade along with Zamana Lage, Dil Ka Kya and Mohabbat Kitni Karoon. Only time will tell if these songs will stay fresh even after 18 years. At the press show (on the evening of July 3), people got restless when the songs came in between scenes. But this is Anurag Basu’s film and music always plays a big role in his films. It also shows that today’s audiences have become accustomed to not seeing songs in big films or seeing item songs only at the end. So the only way to get them heard is by adding songs in between scenes the old-fashioned way.
FAQs
The story depicts love and relationships between age groups in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata. What makes it special is how director Anurag Basu has kept it strong – he shot the film in real locations in busy cities, with a brief stopover in Pune.
Bhushan Kumar produced the film, and Metro… Dino Life in a… ends with Metro and Ludo, Basu’s connected stories. A review in The Hindu said, “In link-style films, it is important to portray the characters quickly, so choosing the right actors is very important.”
