Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatan (meaning Stree 2: Terror of the Headless) is a 2024 Indian Hindi comedy-horror film. Amar Kaushik directs the film and Niren Bhatt writes it. Madoc Films and Jio Studios jointly produce the film. It is the second installment of Street (2018), which started the Madoc horror comedy universe. It is also the fourth film in the series.
The film stars Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana. They play friends who fight against Sarkate, a headless ghost who kidnaps women in Chanderi. The ghost also clashes with Street. Tamannaah Bhatia and Varun Dhawan, who return to their roles from Bhediya, also play key roles.
Kaushik had shared his plans to make Stree 2 in October 2018. In February 2022, Rajkummar Rao confirmed that the film was in the works. But the original producers, Raj and DK, left the project after some issues with Dinesh Vijan regarding rights.
Subsequently, Niren Bhatt, who had written Bhediya (2022) and Munjya (2024), became the writer. Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande officially announced the film in April 2023. Shooting began in July 2023, mostly in Chanderi and Bihar, and was completed by mid-2024. Sachin-Jigar composed the lyrics, and Justin Varghese took over the background music for the first part from Ketan Sodha. Jishnu Bhattacharya took over the camera work in place of Amlendu Chaudhary, and Hemanti Sarkar did the editing.

Plot
The woman stops scaring people in Chanderi, then a new ghost named Sarkata, who has no head, starts taking away lonely women. After a few years, the people of Chanderi start praying to the woman. They believe that the missing women have gone out to find a better life. One day, Rudra finds an envelope with some torn pages of the “Chanderi Purana” and a note written “Vo Aayega” (meaning “He will come”). He quickly shows it to Vicky, but Vicky does not believe him.
People start believing in Sarkata when Bittu’s girlfriend Chitty takes him to Chanderi. The strange woman, who had disappeared earlier, returns for a while and warns Vicky about Sarkata. Vicky, Rudra and Bittu read the missing pages and learn that Sarkata is the ghost of Chandrabhan, who was once the village headman. He killed the woman and her partner in front of their young daughter. The woman later kills him, but after he leaves, he returns from the dead. He hates women who want to grow up and only targets them.
Knowing that the woman needs help, Vicky and Bittu meet Jana, who has been talking to the spirit of the woman. They meet her at her cousin Bhaskar’s house and ask her to come back to Chanderi for a fake “stage play”.
They find the woman at her old place, but Sarkata attacks Jana. Jana’s spirit leaves her body and reaches Sarkata’s cave, where it sees the missing women. Her soul returns to her body and they all escape the fort while Sarkata chases after them. The woman returns again and uses the powers from the woman’s braids to fight Sarkata. But Sarkata breaks the woman’s statue to show that she is stronger now. The women of the city get scared and ask Vicky to save her. The woman tells Vicky to be brave and reminds her that she once saved the city. She gives her a magical knife that can kill Sarkata.
To catch Sarkata, they arrange a dance with Rudra’s girlfriend Shama. Sarkata comes to kidnap her, but Vicky cannot muster the courage to fight. Sarkata then controls the minds of the men of the city and takes Shama, which greatly saddens Rudra. Meanwhile, the men, under the spell of Sarkata, become rude and start mistreating the women in their homes.

Stree 2 Review
Horror comedy is not easy, but the makers of ‘Stree 2’ have done it right again. This second part keeps the same fun feel as the first film. The small town setting, funny characters and simple people are still there. Everything comes together well and works again. It is difficult to make a second part, but the smart story changes the plot – in the first film, women took men, now a male ghost, Sarkata, takes women. The old characters are back, so the story starts quickly, without any lag. The script moves quickly and stays tight. The cast is strong and gives good performances, which keeps people watching.
